Enjoy the wonderful nature of the rainforest in Ecuador!

The Amazon Rainforest offers a unique natural experience for all visitors. On both sides of the equator, between the Tropics of Capricorn and Cancer, stretches the tropical belt of the earth. The Amazon rainforest covers two-thirds of the entire continent of South America - that's over five million square kilometers of land.

The Amazon rainforest is an ancient habitat that has been developing here for millions of years; after the last ice age 21,000 years ago, the Amazon rainforest is currently in a phase of expansion! However, in the last 50 years, an estimated 40 percent of the original tropical forest has already been destroyed.

Part of the Amazon rainforest is flooded every year. The treetops grow so dense and spreading that they act like a large umbrella. Only every fifth drop reaches the forest floor. Rainfall is up to 10,000 mm per year, temperatures range from 20 to 28 °C, and there are no seasons.

Nowhere do plants grow as fast as in the Amazon rainforest. Only light limits the lush growth, because the dense canopy intercepts most of the sunlight; only 1-2 percent of the light reaches the ground.

Plants get their nutrients mainly from the air; a single rainforest tree can support hundreds of other plants, and their weight can be several tons. There are parasitic plants, aerial plants, or epiphytic plants.

Millions of plant and animal species live in the earth's rainforests. But no one knows how many there actually are. In tropical rainforests, one encounters by far the greatest biological diversity.... Millions of insects, ants, beetles, scorpions, spiders, caterpillars, sloths, parrots, toucans, hummingbirds, harpy eagles, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, capuchins, anacondas, capybaras, wild boars, jaguars, anteaters, coatis, tapirs and much more...!

We look forward to organizing your trip for you!
